I have a slight problem with the scanner part of the printer.
I'm scanning in a document that has grey on white and when I scan it in the grey is disappearing and becoming white.
Its a canon pixma mp 280.

Some scanning software allows you to adjust parameters like brightness and contrast. I would suggest trying scanning software that allows this and reduce the brightness.

Alternatively, try opening the scanned document with an image editor like photoshop, gimp or the freebie that came with the canon, and try adjusting the brightness and contrast settings and I suspect the grey area may re-appear.
