what does that equate to in bags per acre?

what does that equate to in bags per acre?

    110/27 = 4 bags(can) per acre

we use about 70 units (2.5 to 3) bags per acre slurry applied February

probably a basic question how do you work out your units in relation to kg?
Let's say for example a 50 kg bag of 18-6-12 how many unit of each thing?? thanks

in a bag of 18 -6 -12 there are 18 units of nitrogen , 6 units of p and 12 units of k, if you are spreading 75 units of n to the acre you would be spreading a bit over 4 bags to the acre of 18-6-12, but tbh i wouldnt be spreading this on silage ground as the k might be a bit too high at that rate, i am using 27-2.5- 5 at 4 bags to the acre on my silage ground, hope you understand that

Its EUR400 per ton around here. Half ton bags and 50kg bags are the one price. Was in Northern Ireland today and its EUR400 per ton there too - considering that its 10% less pure than the southern stuff, it would be a bad purchase up there.

Is it? what is the formulation?

I would be applying a kilo of N per day for first and second cuts, cut every 6 weeks but only on very very productive swards ideally short term leys

I'm not sure to be honest. I'm no expert on fertilizer. However, at a recent suckler discussion group meeting, our planner advised us that buying fertilizer from Northern Ireland is only worth your while if you can get it more than 10% cheaper than down south as the southern stuff is graded 10% higher than the northern stuff. The numbers on the bags might be the same, but the impurities aren't.

He doesn't have an alternative motive either as he bought his own fertilizer in Derrylin last year.

    whelan whats prilled ?
this year i ordered CAN from kerry, i never specified any preffered brand
it was delivered, some was target fertilizer and some was EC i think (brands)
the ec stuff was very fine granules where as the target fertilizer was quite course bulkier stuff, i preferred the look of the finer stuff but does it make any odds?

Prilled is more powder like than the usual bag stuff which is granular.
Sometimes, prilled is hard spread and may need a lime type spreader to do the job cause it clogs in bottom of an ordinary spreader. depends on how fine it is.

    find that strange -
we use P in Republic whereas they use P205 in NI and UK
and K in republic whereas is K2O in NI

The little gran CAN i have used in bags was Prilled.

I've no evidence to back it up. It just what my planner is advising. Have heard other people who use independent planners given the same advise.
My fertilizer came from NI for the last 3 years. Not this year however.
