    Hey guys,

Looking at gettin a new laptop. One I have is getting fairly worn and looking for something with a good bit of RAM and processor speed because this machine is a terror. 1GB RAM and 1.73 GHz CPU.

Looking at a Sony Vaio or some Packard Bell maybe. What would be the best would ye think? Looking for 3 or 4GB of RAM and a decent CPU.

    Cheers

Your budget? What do you want to do with it? Will you buy online? Is battery important? Screen size?

    Without knowing the above......

Either of these would do the majority of people.

Acer, brand name doesn't really mean much, you could get a bad one in any brand. You'll pay a big premium for a Sony.

    Toshiba

This is a nice Samsung in Argos, I don't know what stock levels are like.

An Intel i3, 3 or 4GB RAM, HDMI port, 3 USB ports (handy if you use a mouse) and maybe a graphics card is what your looking for.

    Read reviews before you buy.

Budget would be about 700 I'd say. Screen size wouldn't matter. Mainly Internet and college work and music that kinda stuff.
Would like a decent battery but not overly fussed about it. Would the i3 be a good CPU?

i3 is a good chip. Here's one (€465ish delivered)with 7/8 hour battery. (64bit windows, i3, 3GB RAM, HDMI port) your limited in battery life with the i3 range unless you wait for the second generation ones coming out in a few weeks. There meant to be better.

You will only waste your money (I think) spending €700 for what you want to do with it.

You have many good options to choose from, I think you should give wieghtage to Dell, Acer or Hp as they are reasonable as well as good at thier performance.
