Anyone know the current attitude to trade-ins at Xmusic ? I guess if they sell pre-owned instruments they must accept trade-ins but are they only interested in high value items ? Do they allow much money on the trade-in ?

They offered my €350 for a third hand mex Jazz bass so they're pretty reasonable considering they have to make a profit.
I went ahead and sold it privately though, got much more that way.

The best thing to do normally is try and sell it yourself. Adverts is very active so you should give that a go before you try a trade in. The only problem is that could take a while to try and sell. With trade in's shops normally give you below the value you could get for it so they can sell it and make a few quid.

Bear in mind they have to add vat when they sell it becuase they are a shop and not a private trader.

i asked if they'd take a mesa big block 750 as a trade last week, no interest as they already have one in stock that they cant shift. basically, i was told that unless you're trading in something ultra rare or your trading against something that they're finding very hard to shift, they wont be interested.

Thanks for the info folks. Based on the general feedback and the fact that I was looking to trade something very ordinary agaist something only slightly better I went the sell-it-myself route in the end and bought the something better elsewhere for €100 less than Xmusic were selling it anyway !
