    Ok,

Bought some new woodland camo trousers to replace ones i wrecked and I now have an interesting problem, how do I rough them up to match my existing kit, or at least not as new and shiny as they are now..

    Any ideas?

Wash several times with a bit of washing powder

Use them? I would have thought wearing them is the best way to make something like worn...

wash them and put them on an outside washing line and the weather will fade them, leave them for a week or two.

I bought a hat, it didn't match my worn bdu, I washed the hat several times, it looks worse than the bdu.

The moral of the story is to never try to do anything, ever.

    And/or do as Dex said.

Got to agree with dex... 'roughing them up' is hilariously Geardoish (Read: Geardoism/ Geardo) Let it look new... just use them, and it will happen. It doesnt need to look 'warry' from scratch, nobody will think you're a newbie lol.:D

Besides, if you're this concerned about your gear all matching now, it won't be long until you're standing around at the edge of skirmish site not wanting to actually play in case you get your brand new loadout dirty.

(Don't laugh too hard, I've seen it happen plenty of times)

Ah no, im not that bad or anything, its just i bought my original gear used so it was pretty hard worn from armyshop.ie but i tore the trousers and had no choice than to get a replacement in Army Bargains, due to the short notice, hitting up a milsim weekend in prozone in scotland tomorrow but ive been told to expect wet weather so im going to be covered in dirt anyway.. banged it in the wash just to try soften them up a little anyway, will tumble dry as well..

I have one thing to say... (not related to the OP, but just for the craic of it)

Hopefully the older members may get it (ones that used arnies)

"Oh gosh! There's mud on my weesatch!":pac::pac:

I approve of this message. I'd also like to add:

"I'm not going in there, it's dirty"

Not from arnies, but from a skirmish.

Yeah, bless thier little Tactical Taylor socks! Skirmishing with geardos is highly amusing and annoying.

They dont go prone, they make so much noise crunching around, they stop to take photos of eachother.... Nightmare lol
(Seriously, this isnt anything to do with the OP, so please, dont think we're joking about you, I do understand your issue, but side with the 'let it wear' camp)
Best one, was when a geardo that saw me at a game, marched upto me, and demanded I remove the rank tab I was wearing, as it was disrespectful, unearned, and wrong... He didn't half have a job removing his foot under the gufawing laughter of the site regs when he found out it was earned :P Love it when they do that, Its the reason i still keep it on my smock for the look on thier faces when I tell them... Predictable bunch.

OP: I had tried to weather a set of new marpat bdus once, washing them made them too pale, and totally unrealistic. your best bet is to seriously just get muddy and dusty. It will look far better.
