I take it you mean your new employer?

Its up to you to supply your new employer with your P45. You should contact your old company for your P45 (if you finished work this year some time). If they dont/cant supply you with it, contact your local tax office for a tax credit cert for 2011.

old employer is gone/doesnt exsist/out of business. I finished with them last year. Whats happens if i dont supply them my new employer with my p45? And when im leaving my current role in the future....will they give me p45?

Your employer is supposed to supply you with a P45 when you leave, within a reasonable time. Obviously in the case of a company thats gone out of business thats not possible. As this all took place last year, you dont need your P45 - the tax year runs Jan - Dec so what happened last year wont apply to your new job. All you need to do is ring your tax office, they will probably look for the details of your new company (they may not ask). You essentially just need them to state your tax credits etc for 2011 as you wouldnt have paid any tax so far this year.

You run the risk of being put on emergency tax by your employer as they do not have a Tax Cert from Revenue for you so assuming that this is your first PAYE job in 2011 , I would suggest that you either tell your new employer to set you up with Revenue in order for them to rec a Tax cert or ask your employer for there employers reg no and ring revenue yourself.if its your first job this year ( either PAYE or self employed ) you will have use of all your credits and rate band from Jan 1 so ask for a cumulative cert, if not ask for a week 1. get this bit wrong and you may end up with a tax bill !:(
