    ORIGINAL STORY
Police said a Bellaire man had to be removed from his home on Washington Street Sunday.

Police said the man's skin had become attached to the fabric of the chair after he sat in it for two years

Authorities said he was sitting in his own feces and urine and maggots were visible.

Police were called in to help transfer the man to the hospital.

(Related story: Community Asks Questions in Obese Bellaire Man Story)

Authorities said they had to cut a hole in the wall to get the man out of his home.

Shockingly, two other able-bodied people lived there---another man, who had a separate bedroom, and the girlfriend of the man who was stuck in the chair. Officials say the girlfriend served food to him, since he never got up.

Bellaire Code Enforcer Jim Chase says now the tennants have been given orders to clean it or leave it.

One officer said it was the worst thing he ever responded to. And most said the worst part of all was the smell. Ironically the landlord says the man in the chair rented from her before and used to be a vital active person.

She says she checked on them periodically but lately he always sat with a blanket over him. She says she had no idea it had come to this.

Sunday morning his housemates called officials when he was unresponsive.

The 43-year-old man is currently in the hospital.

Police said they found the man in deplorable conditions.

    THEN AN UPDATE LATER

BELLAIRE, Ohio -- UPDATE March 30

According to our radio news partner WKKX, the 43-year-old Bellaire man has died.

I thought this was about some prankster superglueing his mate. Or maybe an evil crime gang with a big tin of Bostic. Dissapointed, tbh. Or is that fattest? Or is it fattist? Or was he fattest?

omg thats shocking. Obviously something had happened to the man, as the landlord had said he was an active man years before. I don't understand how the housemate and girlfriend did not intervene early, how could they let a human being sit on his own waste and maggots thrown in, its inhumane:confused:

how could you live there and not think something was wrong?
how could you continue like that for TWO freaking years?
surely it would be painful? like sores and the like? could he not have called someone? asked the landlord for help when she was visiting?

he was sitting in his own waste for two years and not once did he or his girlfreind think something was wrong or try to get help.

i don't know which is scarier, that he would allow himself to live like that for two years or that someone else would let him.

If my partner didn't shift out of his chair for 12 hours, I'd be kicking him up out of it, but two years????

Did she never suggest the guy change his clothes, use the toilet or take a shower for two bloody years??

    Madness.

Jeez , a lot of people on here getting their panties in a twist at the OP...

Anyhoo, these kinda stories freak me out... at some point you'd think the guy would have thought " Ya know, maybe sitting in my own waste and gradually becoming encrusted onto a piece of furniture isn't the best way I could be living my life..." And what was the girlfriend thinking.

It is madness!!! The woman obviously has psychological problems to enable it all.

    Absolutely horrible existence.

What I really want to see now is a video of someone cutting a "whole" in a house. And a big, fat lad emerging from that "whole". Gives a whole new meaning to "getting me whole".

Can't say I have much sympathy to be honest.
So a person only deserves sympathy if they are one hundred per cent not responsible for their downfall?

Unless he had some underlying physical or mental disability I don't have much sympathy for him either, it seems self inflicted

I would say being so obese, you can't get out of your armchair without aid might probably count as a physical disability, self inflicted or not.

True, but he had to keep eating to get there. Regardless of what his girlfriend was doing, he made the conscious decision to keep eating himself into oblivion. I'd be surprised if there wasn't something wrong with his mental health

Could have been self inflicted because of a mental disability. You're hardly going to decide to eat yourself to that weight without having psychological problems in the first place.
Makes it easier to be really cut and dry about things though I suppose...
