Going to watch this later. Really looking forward to it, supposed to be the best Allen movie in years.

Thought it was entertaining enough - though not as good as the reviews have been making out. Some of the acting was quite bad actually. But, as with nearly every Woody Allen film, it's charming and it's hard not to leave with a smile on your face. Similar in theme to the Purple Rose of Cairo, although not as good obviously. Much better than the last 2 woody allens.

Quite looking forward to see this. Been on a bit of an Allen buzz lately and it does seem to have more in common with his early work than his frankly dreadful post 90s output.

I really liked it and it would definitely be one of my favourite films of the year. It came as even more of a surprise, because his recent form has been terrible - You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, in particular, was awful.
Though I never would have expected it, Owen Wilson is arguably the most authentic version of a "younger Woody persona" we've had, even though his laid-back approach is a very different representation of the trademark Woody World View. Wilson's is not the uptight version we've had before. Gil is asking the big questions, but he's not wound up about it.
Ultimately, I just like the idea that, at his age, Woody can still can come up with a script that's witty and charming and (given its very impressive box office) is clearly appealing to people who wouldn't necessarily like his other work.
    And Marion Cotillard is hot.

It's my favourite since Sweet And Lowdown. Owen Wilson, for my money, has done the best Woody substitute I've seen. A good mix of both Woody's and his own anxious personalities. The look on his face when he is watching Scott and Zelda dancing is priceless. Great cast, great acting and just the right amount of Woody's magical realism, which I love. Not as good as his early funny ones but so much better than that **** with Colin Farrell.

Just saw it, thoroughly enjoyable and charming little film. I've only seen a handful of Woody Allen films to be honest but this is probably my favourite so far.

I never thought I'd say this about a modern Woody Allen film, but I thought this was truly excellent. I didn't know about the 'twist' (if we can call it that), and was expecting just another rom-com set in Paris. But no, instead Allen delivered a thoughtful, funny and affectionate film that may be the definitive film about the romanticism of Paris. The similarities thematically and delivery wise with the Purple Rose of Cairo (probably my favourite of all his films) certainly helped. The whole idea of longing for an era you never experienced will always be an interesting one, and this was a playfully literal take on the idea.

The performances helped, especially the supporting ones. Adrian Brody was delightful in his single scene (DAAALLLLIIII!). Alison Pill was excellent as always. Michael Sheen's character was a nice parody of the typical 'pseudo-intellectuals' that populate Woody Allen films these days. Wilson was his usual self, and Cotillard is radiant as always.

The only weak link was McAdams, although her performance actually wasn't bad at all. It was simply her character seemed to be receive the butt end of Allen's recent penchant for unspeakable, rigid dialogue. She does well with what she has, and it helps that we're not actually meant to like her, but when she spoke there was always the slight fear this would just turn into another throwaway piece of crap.

But no, Allen pulls it off beautifully (barring an opening montage that goes on too long, although I enjoyed the novelty of a Woody Allen pre-credit sequence) and plenty of geeky humour along the way: what other filmmaker could get away with a lengthy metajoke about Exterminating Angel? Great stuff altogether :)

    "I see a photo!"
    "I see a film!"
    "I see an insurmountable problem."
    "I see... a rhinoceros!"

Lovely little film, but then again I'm of the opinion that Woody Allen never really lost it.

It might just be me nerding out, but I loved the way Allen shot Cotillard in soft-focus like the starlets of old. It was a delightful classical touch in a film full of delightful classical touches :)

Just saw it tonight and was pleasantly surprised, I was expecting another chick flick and only as the OH was dragging me into the cinema she told me it was a Woody Allen film.

Was still sceptical about Owen Wilson in the lead as I ****ing hate him. But while he carried many of his annoying nuances into the role, he wasn't as irritating as usual as there was so much else going on around him all the time.

Very entertaining and as abstract as some of it's characters.

Saw this when I was in Poland last month and it was great.Very different to most films out now, Owen Wilson was excellent, he really sucked you in to the story, funny too.

    Hey

I LOVE Woody Allen movies. Go to see them all. Seen every movie he has made. Even the ones in the last few years which have been slated i went to see and still enjoyed the unique Woody Allen experience. When I read the reviews for this one I was very excited to see it....... Worst thing I've seen in long time. HATED Owen Wilsons character hated Rachel Mcadams ( usually like her) hated micheal sheen character. Thought movie was wooden (ha ha) and cliche. Paris looked great but that was it. So just be warned. You might not enjoy this one unlike everyone else !

Reading last week that that its by far the most successful Woody Allen film ever far outdoing the likes of Annie Hall or Manhatten in Box Office receipts.

Saw this last night, I loved it.

I actually really dislike Paris as I think its filthy and over rated nowadays. Oh if only I got to see it in the 20's

Cotillard was fantastic, I just loved her character. Wilson wasn't as annoying as I thought he would be which was nice.

Its a really quirky film and I would definitely recommend it.
