    Hi guys,
A lot of people on here who post looking for relationship advice are told to try couples councelling to help them resolve issues they may be having in their relationship.
I was wondering if any of you have actually tried going and if so how did you find it?
Is the councellor there as a mediator between the couple to help them discuss the difficulty they are experiencing or do they actually give advice and suggestions and "homework"?
Lastly did you find that it helped?!
Looking forward to hearing what you all think.
    Thanks!

    have been.

didnt think the counsellor had to mediate as we were fine to talk but did help some communication to happen - even though we did and do have very good communication. Think we went more at the pre-emptive stage.
    Yes we got homework :)
Dont think they gave advice as such really as I recall.....but us going even helped in itself as it was a recognition of what was a priority and that we needed to work at it a bit at that time.
    Yes it helped.

Feel free to pm if you would like more details.

I have been going to couples counselling till recently - it wasn't so much about our relationship as to help us deal with some tough stuff that is/was happening.

It is very good - the counsellor sees things in a very different way to the two of us, it was surprisingly helpful :rolleyes:

    Thanks for your replies.:)
Good to hear you both found it useful-I wondered if people would say it wasn't very effective.

Yes it would be good to get another perspective on mine and my partner's recurring issue! I get bogged down!
