hi and mods, feel free to merge this thread if it's inappropriate.

I bought a psp 3000 while in the USA recently, my plan was to use it primarily as a comic book reader but I wish to install something which will view standard cbr files.

In order to do this I need to try and jailbreak this machine, i've googled since i returned on Saturday with no joy.

    system software is version 6.37

Can anyone of the normally knowledgeable boards community help me please?

    Much Appreciated.

You're out of luck I'm afraid as you are on official firmware 6.37. PSP 3000's aren't fully hackable, but CFW Enabler can be loaded on those with 5.03 firmware or below to run your homebrew and ISO's

HEN is available for 6.35 & below so far. OP you need to downgrade from 6.37 to a previous firmware first.

Edit - I didn't spot your on a 3000, there's no way to downgrade currently from 6.37 in that case. You'll just have to wait for a solution.

    le sigh,

I figured that might be the case, I shall await the ever vibrant hacking community's input on this, although at the rate that Sony/evil are illegally seizing people's computers, it might be a while.

The GeoHot debates have been had, there's good & bad on both sides really tbh & ideally should be kept out of your threads when asking for help on a Playstation forum :D Just sit back & await either a downgrader or HEN for your firmware, nothjing much else can be done until then :)

I appreciate the gentle use of the big scary mod stick.

In all seriousness I don't mind, mild frustration expressed was all, i got the darned thing refurbished along with 3 games, a 4 gig memory card and three movies (predator, butterfly effect and resident evil) for a mere 200$ (no sales tax in new hampshire, yay).

I guess I'll just have to occupy myself with remote play from my ps/3 and the fact that Sony kindly don't region code the games so I can raid my local xtravision for the back catalogue :D

No mod stick intended, I'm not a mod here. Simply saying in all dedicated Sony/Playstation forums there are as many fans of sony as there are of homebrew, so your likely to get more help by remaining neutral :)

And if your ripping games from Xtra Vision, that's bad form.

ok I saw it said moderator next to you so i fugred, well you know.

and ripping games? heavens no, didn't mean to imply that. I know the clerk in my local xtravision (Ballina, mayo btw) I was just saying I could rent or purchase ex rental PSP games quite cheaply, the advantage of renting being the whole "try before you buy" approach which I like.

No the homebrew was simply to let it do things it's not designed to do, I do not condone duplication at all, the darned games are cheap enough that purchase/ rental is well even within my limited budget.

You can pick up PSP 1000's quite cheaply on DoneDeal if you really want CFW!
