    Hi

I'm in full time employment, IT related, great hours with lots of flexibility but my salary is low and after lots of pay cuts and tax increases I'm slightly strugglung financially.

I do have considerable savings so.................

How can I use 'some' of my savings to put me in a position to supplement my income? (I wouldnt be in favour of using to much of my 'nest egg')

    I've thought about maybe ...

Just leave the money on deposit (seems a waste) or

    - buy an apartment and let it out....

    - get a taxi licence and do it part time
    - train as an ADI and start my own driving school
    - Invest in Apple apps training and start developing iPod/iPad apps
    - web development (buy decent development suites)..I do have previous experience of running my own small part time web dev biz (with limited success)
    - just get a bar job :(

    Any ideas what you'd do????

These as you have an interest and you can realistically do them after work, there's nothing worse on a Friday evening thinking Oh great work is over, Oh Sh1t I have to go to other work at 9:00 pm. Trust me I did it for years.

Get a note book and as you see IT related things advertised make notes and try think of a niche.

Exploit what you know, if a family member is a farmer or B&B owner see if you can do websites for farmers or B&B owners.

I make something my grandmother taught me to make and i sell it. I love doing it, its like getting paid for doing my hobbie. Other than that I wouldn't make time to do it.

You might find regular jobs/projects, like painting or fixing things around the house, DIY etc, pay as much as casual IT jobs. Too many people doing IT stuff as nixers, theres not much money in it. Any IT stuff that does make money takes too much time when you're full time working.

Totally agree....which brings me back to maybe investing in becoming an ADI or getting a taxi plate for part time....???

I'm really only looking to make €100 a week extra........

I don't know where you are located but everywhere I go seems to have giant queues of taxis, even at the weekend. Driving Instructor is pretty much a daylight job so it might be harder in the winter to fit in with your existing job but I think it would be a better option - you probably don't get as many people pissed out of their heads either :)

I don't think taxi's make much money unless you do mega hours.
