Astra Gearbox

    Hi all,

    My Mum has a 2007 Astra Twintop (convertible).

    She was driving along yesterday and it conked out. It's with a main dealer - and their telling her the gearbox is 'gone'.

    Their saying that the gearbox alone is over €5,000 and that's not including labour, which I presume will be massive.

    Does that sound right to ye....6-7k for a new gearbox on a car that is just over 3 years old? :(

    Get it to a gearbox specialiast and not a dealer. That's insane money for a box for an Astra.

    price is a bit high, last price a few years ago i had for the vectra for a full gearbox was 4k.... so 5k seems high...

    as EPM says get it out of the dealer and to a gearbox specialist, the cost of towing it to them will be well paid back in savings

    E400 for a wiper mechanism for mine..i have been driving around with one since the snow. anyone know anywhere to get second hand Astra Parts? I belieive i could get it for less than 150 second hand. mine is 05 Astra Sxi.

    check out some car breakers...

    partfinder.ie is a good place or for a listing of a lot of auto breakers
