Breake Squeal

    Hi,

I've got a hybrid bike which I use for daily commute to work. The brakes (V-brakes) squeal incredibly loudly under all pressures.

Is this a sign of worn pads, misaligned pads, toeing or something else? I'm not sure of the type of pads - but they are quite long.

I am considering replacing them, but do not know what type to put on. What are recommended for road commuting - I'll not be off road on this bike.

    Thanks.

Can be all of the above. Can also be due to the rims and/or pads becoming sort of "polished". By and large most brake squeal can be solved by cleaning the rims, roughing up the pads with a bit of sandpaper and properly adjusting the toe-in.
