Been multiple threads on the asylum and their mockbusters. Hell one if us even worked for them for awhile.

These guys are well known for ripping of Pixar movies in Brazil.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V%C3%ADdeo_Brinquedo

Some of their titles include :
    The Little Cars
    Ratatoing
    Little Bee
    Gladiformers
    Gladiformers 2
    The Little Panda Fighter
    Little & Big Monsters
What's Up?: Balloon to the rescue

I saw a bit of Rataoing and what struck me is that it has practically nothing in common with Ratatouille except the title and presence of rats and food. It's as tho Brinquedo read about the upcoming Pixar production in Variety or something and began working on their copy with only the vaguest idea what the finished Pixar movie might actually eventually be about. The bit I saw had 10 minutes of rats talking to each other about mundane subjects like the weather and nothing at all happening in terms of plot. It was hilariously ridiculous (for a short time anyway).

Brazzers have a decent line in title/theme rip offs.

I love this title. :pac: The committee of one really weren't bothering that day -- to come up with a rip-off title like that.

I've always been quite saddened by these movies because they're truly awful. I love bad movies and the recent resurgence of SyFy channel originals has been a breath of fresh air from Hollywoods need to remake old tv shows and movies.

But the Asylum films are just badly put together. There's no redeeming qualities. They should at least be "so bad they're good", but they can't even get that right. I'm half tempted to start a mockbuster film company just to show them how it's done!

i think they do it just so people get confused and buy their crappy low budget films and make a quick money. theres bad and theres not even trying.

You'd think that wouldn't you? So did I. watched Alien V Hunter and it's not even funnily bad. It's just bad... in a bad way!
Like Humanji, I enjoy silly cheap SyFy films, but AVH was just plain awful. Absolutely nothing to enjoy in it.

I prefer the 70s ones, ranha, Orca to Jaws,
Battle Beyond the Stars, Corman's is directed by Dalkey resident Jimmy T Murakami, stars John Boy Walton, Hannibal Smith and Napoleon Solo (Robert Vaughn redoing the Magniicent 7 in his case) doing the Magnificent 7 in Space, in a tit-ship designed by James Cameron, among other ships.

The really scary thing is that these movies make money. Read somewhere recently that Asylum has never lost money on a movie!

With budgets as low as theirs it prob doesn't take much to yield a profit from selling the rights to dvd sales. I wonder how many dvd purchases are made from unknowledgable grandparents and parents.

Imagine getting one of these bad boys as a Christmas present! :D

My 8 yr old daughter loves that film. I cannot understand it.
