    Hi,

Just a quick question, I don't know the answer so sorry if I'm being stupid here.

But, if say I was assaulted at Christmas, which is now almost 4 months ago, is there anything I can do to get the guy caught for it? I was too afraid to do anything up until now. Thing is, I have no pictures of my injurys, there was some bruises and scratches, but it happened a few times, (it was my ex) .. is there anything I can do.. This guy has givin me black eyes, a fag burn to the face, bust my lip, hit, headbutted and kicked me numerous times. I know I'm the bigger idiot for not recording any of it but at the time I didn't know what to think..

Theres nothing I can do now to report it is there?

Again, sorry if this post is ridiculous..

you can report it it's simply a case of going to your local garda station and saying it to the garda at the desk, but without any evidence it's your word against his.

You are not being ridiculous. This behavior is unacceptable regardless of your relationship Talk to the Garda also ask for a number of a Domestic violence help centre.

I know, its just that without evidence it is probably a lost cause, so I know I was stupid not to take pictures at least.

It's unlikely that reporting it now will lead to a prosecution. But it is a route to contact with a domestic violence support service, who can help you. And, if you are assaulted again and you report it, the guards will know that it is not an isolated incident.

If we were talking about say an incident in a pub where you had a row and got boxed I'd say you're wasting your time.

What you are talking about is completely different. You know who assaulted you and inasmuch as you say its your word against his, why would you not be believed ?

Go to your local garda station and make a report. This kind of assault is taken seriously.

I hope you are now away from him and safe.

Did you tell anyone else of these assaults? has anyone seen these injuries? if so, they can help with your case. this thug needs to be stopped.

And remember that even if nothing comes of it because of lack of evidence, if there's any complaint from any future victims the gardai will have a record of your complaint and it will help build a case against him.

Exactly report it to the Local Garda station and make them aware of it, as its clearly not an isolated incident, if you wish to prosectue you will need to have witnesses of the injuries caused by the coward. It is perfectly understandable that you were afraid to come forward at the time, but cases to domestic violence/assault are treated differently to other assualt cases. I hope that you are away from him now and look after yourself.
