Possible house renovation

I'm house hunting at the moment and have seen a house that will require a lot of work. Before making an offer I would like an indication of costs of renovation. I dont know which type of professional I need to consult before making an offer. Should I get an architect or builder or surveyor to look at the house?

    Any help much appreciated.

If you want the building surveyed then a Building Surveyor. If you want the building extended or redesigned then an Architect. If you want the building spec upgraded in terms of insulation and airtightness then a BER assesor. If you want a general all around criticism on the building and to bounce ideas off then an Architectural Technician or Engineer.

Hi a good reliable builder will give you good advice, a ball park figure and wont charge you as much or not at all. The banks will send ther own suveyer out and the house it self will have its own ber rating to work off.
