Yep, he is fancy with a rag and a stick. Most people just use newspaper.

It really only adds hot air to the mix. If that engine was stood for a long time and the rings were a bit stuck it would not work.

Surprise, surprise, once it was running in true old Volvo fashion it produce that good old blue haze that would cut the eyes out of even the most hardened mechanics

My neighbor has a 63 super dexta that would only start on a cold day with this method :D

I know tis oldschool, and been done loads over the years, it's just cool to see in a modern day video, when nowadays people can't live without a diagnostic port to plug into

obviously as slidey says you'd have to make sure the whole thing wasn't stuck fast but many people wouldn't even think of tryin that method to help it get going

Another trick if you do not have easy start but do have acetylene plant is to give it a wee sniff.

Kids, do not try this at home!

yeah that's not one to try without being confident you knew what you were at.

People have done it, and do it still of course, with all sorts of things from heat guns to a can of deoderant and a lighter.

Having seen the immediate effects and aftermath of the use of most of a can of WD40 trying to start a dumper i reckon that prticular one should b e alast resort.
