Does an e-mail = "in writing"

    Is there any SI / Act / Anything that deems an e-mail to be = to "in writing".

    For example, if I make an Access Request, under the Data Protection Acts, and if that requset is made by e-mail and not by snail mail, must the recipient accept it or can they demand that it be sent by snail mail?
