    Hi there,
This is my first thread so if I'm posting in the wrong place my apologies.
I am considering changing my garage (not connected to house) into a beauty salon can anyone tell me do I need planning permission for this and if so is it a long drawn out process?

    Thanks in Advance

Yes you need a change of use permission.

The Council will take 8 weeks to decide once you submit an application. This may take longer if they request Further Information from you.

In addition third parties, i.e. neighbours can object. If you are granted permission a third party that has made an objection to the Council may appeal the decision to An Bord Pleanála, and they can take around 18 weeks to decide.
Alternatively if you are refused permission you may also appeal the decision to an Bord Pleanála.
