What's your all-time favourite coffee?

Just curious as to some of those standout coffee experiences you've had...so far.

    For me:

Espresso: a completely and utterly delicious double-shot from Flat White in London.

In Milk: a latte from Intelligentsia, Chicago. It really switched me on to what a great cup of coffee could be.

Filter: this is a harder one, but my mind keeps going back to the first Saturday that 3fe was open and I was handed a coffee (I think by RE*AC*TOR??) which had such a strong blackcurrant taste I was amazed that coffee could have such distinctive tastes. Problem is I don't remember what the coffee was!

    What's been your favourite?

Wellega #2 (Supereme Roastworks) springs to mind as the best Ethiopian Natural I remember - but there were a few others that year of similar standard (3 years ago now).

A lot of great Kenyan's 2 years ago - Tekangu from Tim Wendelboe probably topped the list - but again - great harvest lots of excellent coffees.

I have a lot of very memorable coffees too - Machacamarca from Hasbean from WBC in Atlanta. Santa Rita Natural from Square Mile. The shots of David Schomer's Vivace Dolce I had in London last year... Las Macadamias (S&H) we had in CATEX this year (one of the most explicitly sweet coffees I remember tasting). The first time I tried Esmeralda. Verve's Face Melter. Square Mile's WBC Espresso Blend (Stephen Morrissey's one). Intelli's Honeyed Pacamara... yada yada yada

Hard to pick an all time favourite. With a gun to my head I might go with the Wellega mentioned above, but it's very hard to fairly compare coffees of such drastically differing origins and processing methods... It's all about chasing the next one...

    My memory is fading . . .

Was in New Zealand for 7 months back in 2002/2003 and there was one place in particular that really sticks out in my mind. Every so often I think to myself about how nice the coffee was there, I can picture the interior, I can picture the street it was on, I can picture the town, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of the town.

It doesn't really add much to the thread, but I can defeinitely remember my all time favourite coffee, I just can't remember where I had it.

In general terms, almost any short coffee anywhere in Spain works for me. I have a feeling my appreciation of coffee increases when I'm away on holidays.

Yirgachefe is probably my favorite 'go-to' coffee.

I liked Machacamarca a lot, Esmerelda is nice, but I'd find it hard to call it a coffee, it's so different (which is/can be a good thing!)

    +1

Karl's Chelba was awesome, helped me start the working day well.

For espresso it would have to be my first shot of Blackcat. Opened up a lot of new territory for me. Still trying to recreate that experience now :/
