I just bought the Icecrypt t2200 Freeview HD box and I thought I would report how it gets on with saorview. It picked up all the channels and puts them in the 800s. MHEG5 text works fine, no analogue text. I downloaded a beta firmware that allows recording to USB and have been able to record and playback without any problems to a portable hd. It will also playback divxs over usb. It didn't automatically pickup the change in daylight saving last night, but I was able to turn on DST in the settings menu.

Sounds fairly normal for a "Freeview HD".

No "favorites" feature for alternate numbering?

    Does it start RTE 1 = 800, or RTE1 = 801?

It has favorites but you cannot change the number assigned to a channel, you can just select which channels to include in the favorite group(s).

    RTE 1 = 800.

Pity about that, it would be nice to have RTÉ 1 at 100/101 etc, and put the UK channels further down the list. Hopefully when Saorview/Saorsat hardware becomes more widely available, and (hopefully) more affordable, we'll have 'home' epg positioning.

so how do you select a channel in a Favorite Group?
    Menu and arrow keys?

You can't make a Favorite group the default and hit 1 for 1st channel in it?

pity it's not 801 etc, as that would be simple. Idiot design spec, Non-Freeview ought to be at 801 onwards not 800. I suspected such daftness. Sloppy C programming or Daft D-Book spec.

Once the favorite group is selected then use P+/P- keys, or arrow keys and ok. Or type in the channel number (800, 801 etc.)

I have just found out I was wrong about channel numbers when favorites are active. The channel number shown on the front of the box still shows 800 for rte1, 801 for rte2 etc. but pressing 1 will go to rte1, 2 to rte2 etc.

What is the quality of Icecrypt T2200.

It has good build quality, looks like it will last. The remote is OK, not the greatest, buttons are a bit fiddly. Picture quality is very good. My main complaint would be the very slow startup if switched off at the mains.

The box is made by topfield. I would have thought there would be an option in the software menu to change the Logical Channel Number to a preferred number (ie 801 > 1 etc).

If there isnt I am sure the lads on the toppy forum have a hack for it possible using their channel organisor. http://forum.toppy.org.uk
