some times after the gym , i go for a light jog through the local park, however within moments of setting off, i feel as tired as if i had run a Kms, when in fact I've hardly gone 100 m. Why is this, is it the blood is still pumping through my recovering muscles and not into my heart and lungs?

If you can't run after doing a weights/strength session, you're doing something right.

Just go home, recover and run some other time.

Maybe because you're not fit enough, how far can you run without doing weights before hand?

Get fitter and you should be able to go further.

Either that or you kill yourself during a weights session, which isn't a bad thing in itself.

If you are doing weights properly(which it sounds like you are) your heart rate will be right up there for the duration of your weights session so you are doing a certain amount of cardio as well

you can't expect your body to perform the same way it would fresh after its already been performing for the duration of your weights session.

It's a lot simpler than heart rate etc. If you've really used your hams, glutes or quads on a good workout - particularly those heavy compound lifts - there's no way you will be close to nimble enough to run.

Ever had a bad walk home after some RDLs and deadlifts? Personally my walk looks like I've just left a prison cell shared with Bubba.

Thanks guys, i usually cane it failry hard in the gym, the run was just a nice cool down on a sunny day, not any real training method. Normally i can run a few few KMs without feeling as shagged as i did post-gym today.
