Nintendo 3DS' May system update will make a number of new features available to owners of the console. Which feature are you most looking forward to. It seems to be one of the most comprehensive updates Nintendo has ever released for one of their consoles. For those of you who don't know here are some of the features being primed fo release.

-3DS browser (currently inactive on the home menu)
-e shop (for purchasing DSi Ware 3DS Ware and Virtual Handheld games)
-DSi Game transfers (For transfering you Dsi Ware to the 3DS)

Other features stated to be coming to the 3DS but not confirmed for May are
Downloadable 3D content from Eurosport (pan European)
Downloadable 3D content from Sky 3D (in UK not sure if we are included in that.
    3D video recording.
The ability to join friends in game from your friends list and message them from your friends list.

It seems like a good bit of content. Personally I want the e shop because they are touting it as a mix between the nintendo channel and wii shop on Wii and if the 3D movie trailers and the like come to pass then it could be a really interesting service.

    more 3d content, definitely.
hopefully it will be possible to watch 3d movies or sports somehow

Well Eurosports are definitely providing content across Europe. They could strike a deal with some film studios also. Theyve talked about it before and Id say we will get trailers somewhere along the line. Sky 3D are giving content so maybe sports highlights or something like that or arts I dunno. But maybe that mightnt be for Ireland.

Virtual handheld games, by far. So many old-school games to be had!

e-shop of course but also very interested in eurosport, as long as it's not just football. Cycling in 3d would be great.

Virtual console. I really want Links awakening DX, Oracle of Seasons, tetris, Super Mario DX and SF2 Champion edition for turbo graphfx.

Its strange. Im surprised NIntendo hasn't yet held an event detailing what exactly people will be getting when this update goes live.

It's not for quite a while....They could easily hold something a week beforehand even.

Or an event isn't that needed tbh if they don't have some exclusive 3DSware titles to show off.

Does anyone know exactly when in May this update will occur?

    Iwata SEZ "Late May, Globally".
    That's all.

I'll throw an estimate in at 23rd of May.

I kind of disagree that an event isnt needed. I mean sure there is probably not going to be anything earth shattering in the update but I mean its supposed to add a loooooooooooooooooooot of features. I remember the Wii system update that added SD card support for Game downloads and other things like the VC arcade. I remember that was detailed at GDC. Is there any big game event in MAy?

They detailed the update at GDC 2011, did you not hear Reggie announce Video ?

I want the 3D-ified games, probably the Mario Bros titles with the parallax backgrounds in 3D.
Also looking forward to the 3D video recording, have a feeling that it, along with the 3D movie rentals could be a real selling point.
It'll be interesting if the movie format means it can be played back on 3D tvs.

I did hear it alright but like when they launch the e shop they will be launching loads of games aloside it, VC and possibly 3d classic and 3DS Ware adn i know when they launched WiiWare they had a fairly sizeable event in Japan to detail all the games although maybe is not wholly necessary, I would welcome it, altough its nlikely to happen so clse to E3.
