Is it possible to use 2.5gb in 1 day

Just wondering if it is possible to use the above amount of data on my iPhone 4 in 1 day without tethering it. Just in normal cellular use. Got a bill from vodafone charging me 20 euro for using this in one day. I usually only average about 400 mb of data usage per month. They insist it is a valid charge. Anyone know if it possible.

If you watch enough video, download enough songs, apps, or podcasts - sure.

I'd say it's 2.5mb your after being charged for. 2.5gb would cost a lot more than 20 euro if it was out of bundle.

You could use 2.5gb but not under normal use in one day.

It's definitely 2.5 gb on the bill as I get 2gb free every month anyway. Not sure how accurate the usage counter is on the iPhone but it says I have only used 1.8 gb since I bought the phone in august. I have never reset it.

2.5gb per day is 104mb/hour, which is 1.7mb/min, which is 28kb/s

so if you are downloading at 28kb/s non stop all day then you can reach the 2.5gb in a day

you can get online radio stations/grooveshark etc at 128kb/s encoding or more.
So if you listened to 5.5 hours of online radio you could use it up.

I dont know how much google maps download a second when on GPS. about 30kb/s comes to mind maybe, getting new maps etc (for a long distance trip obviously).

I think my maths are right here </tired>

Wouldn't the battery be dead after 3 hours though?

I also only use 200mb-400mb per month out of my 2gb. I'd think it very strange to be able to use this much on my iPhone in a day (on my desktop sure – could use that up in an hour). Can you remember what you were doing with it that day?

I can remember because of early starts in the
Morning I am rarely going to bed after 10.30. Not only that but I have my phone set up to automatically connect to my UPC wifi. The charge on the bill is at 12.01 am.

This is normal - the iPhone doesn't close and open its cell data connection, it generally keeps it alive all the time unless you go out of coverage, etc, so the start and end times of a connection are the start and end times of the operators billing cycle.

To samhail; I think you forgot to divide by 8, 128kbit/sec radio station is 16KB per sec. Thus an internet radio stream, allowing for some overheads, would use about 1.4GB in a day. Some stations are higher though, I know the BBC have some 320k services, so that'd use over 3.5GB per day....and people wonder why internet radio isn't going to replace broadcast anytime soon lol!

Not on an iPhone you can't, Apple would never allow that

I'm betting you're an android user as it's fairly obvious you're talking out your hole...
there's plenty of radio apps out there that you can stream from..

iPhone 3G(S) actually - I was referring to grooveshark, sorry. Doesn't work despite my efforts :( I do know there are apps for radio, I have and use them.

You have 2GB per month, so your being charged for 500mb over, is that correct?

Does Vodafone not itemise the bill? Meteor gives me a day by day usage stats e.g. Time and data used. Whats your normally usage like? Did you get a big email attachement and download over 3G?

Did you add lots of apps that may be connecting to your 3g when it's not connected to your wifi.
I have a few hundred apps on my iphone4 (dont ask me why:confused:) and I always make sure 3g is off, and only turn it on when I need to use it while not able to connect to wifi.
Before I turned it off I found my phone was gobbling data.
