    Need to get van DOEd.

Its juddering a bit in first gear but my mechanic said it isn't flywheel and should be chep enough to fix last time I was in. He didn't have the part at the time so I left it.

When test centre find this and any other of the little probs they always seem to find will they be cool about me getting him to do it and then pass it when I bring it back.

My own mechanic is good and a feck lot cheaper than test centre.

    Cheers

Yes it is OK. There is absolutely no obligation to get it done at the test place. If they don't like it get it tested elsewhere.

my husband always fixes any fails himself. then brings it back to the test centre for re test. so you don't have to get it fixed at the centre.
if you can fix it yourself or know someone that can fix it there should be no problem, they give you a bit of paper that tells you what it failed on

Bit O/T but thats the thing I hate with NCT centres they just fail you and thats that. I think they would do a lot better if they could carry out minor repairs like focusing lights etc etc.

The whole point of the NCT being a stand alone test and not being able to fix fails was so there'd be no incentive for them to fail.

Look at how the DOE and MOT have had huge issues with unscrupulous testers ripping off customers.

On some cars focusing lights isn't a minor job!

    OP/

If the test centre doesn't like you taking the van away for repairs, then go to a different test centre.

You are never under any obligation to get any work done anywhere.

Technally speaking a doe center is not ment to be fixing/repairing any cars in the same premises at all!

I know it does go on & happen but im sure there will be a clamp down one of these days...

Are you mixing up DOE with NCT? The majority of Irish DOE centers on the vehicle testing network are licenced commercial garages. There are even main car dealers that are also doe centers.
