Chips in the paintwork - do they bother you ?

How bothered would you be by a couple of chips in the bonnet in a four or five year old car - presume a nice car otherwise.

The chips are definitely through the paint, they'd be touched up before you take the car.

I thought myself if they're touched up and looked after into the future its just the sort of thing you have to accept unless you buy new/nearly new. Someone else said to me you'd be mad to take the car with a chip through the paint.

    Any views ?

With the way the roads are these days, you'll have chips on ever car soon enough. If not before you own it, then it'll be when you own it... so does it really make much difference?

Unless you tape up the entire front end, forget about keeping it perfect

If there was exposed metal showing I'd want them fixed or it will end up rusting over time. Depends on the colour too, on certain colours it may not show up as bad. Could be worth getting the likes of Chipsaway to repair them. Every car will have some degree of chips after a couple of years but depending on the roads driven some may be worse than others.

    Course they do,but they're inevitable

I do most of my driving on N/M roads so have my fair share of chips - particularly the right front wing (presumably as someone speeds past in the outside lane).

Given that the car is metallic black these white "spots" are very noticeable and a small one on the roof just above the driver's door has started to rust so it'll be something I want to get sorted, but it annoys me anyway as I try to look after my car as best as I can

    Thanks lads (&any ladies).

As he's agreeing to touch them in before I take it, its not going to be a deal breaker.

Very head wrecking but part and parcel of every motor on the road.
