Hi was interested in doing this event but the splits for last year look quite fast throughout the board. Does this event cater for newbies???

Im in the same position myself. Ive never done a duathlon before, but this seems like a good place to start! Think they do welcome newbies though (well sort of), it say on the registration form:

"I, the competitor confirm that I:

    • Have completed a continuous Duathlon run 10km /cycle 20 or 130 hours of training within 30 days of the event "

So if you've done around 130 hours of training  you'll be grand!

130 hours is that all? Ill hand in my notice and go pro!

I'm an average guy on the bike and below average for running and I have generally finished 50-65% in the duathlons I have entered (3 in total). My first one was in Nov 10 and I fully expected to be last but to my surprise I was well ahead of the last finisher!

Go for it man and enjoy.

I did this about 2 years ago as my first duathlon and I can assure you my splits were terrible. 3 rock will definetly be catering for newbies on the day. I joined the club shortly after doing that duathlon and I haven't looked back. Wont be doing this one as I'm a steward but definelty come along.
