I am thinking of trading in my Volvo S40 flexifuel for a new Volvo S60 ES. Has anybody got a new S60? If so I would like to hear what you think. I have not seen to many of them around yet.

Don't ask, there's not a lot of love for Volvo on here.

Had a couple pass me. They look nice. Bit small. Good prices considering 3 years ago they were about 10k more.

Can you link to a car you're thinking of buying?

SE is better equipped than the ES but leather is now an optional extra even on the SE model which is a step backwards considering Volvos were always generouse on standard equipement compared to their rivals. Pricey enough too.

It was only Ireland that had leather standard on the SE. They've re-aligned the specification for Ireland with the rest of europe now. Dissapointing for us, but I can see the logic behind it. Just under €1,500 option on the SE for Leather, so not too bad.

Don't own one, but driven a few thousand KM in a couple of different S60's and a V60. If you can stretch then the SE is the better option, but the ES isn't too bad - the 16" wheels are a bit lost on it though, and the USB connector is in the car, but doesn't work, which is really annoying.

The D3 engine is simply fantastic. Everyone I've spoken too in the Motor trade who's driven one agrees that it's a peach. So much torque from that unit that it performs like a more powerful car. Handles briliantly too (suspect Ford engineered the chassis before Volvo turned Chinese), rear end will start to get light before the front end slips out. Being a Volvo, the seats are incredibly supportive and you can jump straight out after hours of driving without any stiffness at all.

Still no where to put your left leg, apart from the clutch, but if you are in an S40 you'll be used to that.

While the retail price is a bit on the high side (still lower than the equivalent Audi or BMW), there is a lot of discount available at the moment so a good deal could be done.

If you are going in to a dealer, don't get hung up on the trade in value of your S40 - the FlexiFuel's are getting on towards worthless now, concentrate on the cost to change.

I was about to say this is wrong ... but I looked up a pic and the RHD V50 has no Footrest  my LHD Version does.

    LHD:

Although the Interior air filter is a hell of a lot easier to remove on the RHD Version, on the LHD Drive you have to go removing the accelerator pedal.

That is totally naff ... I take that footrest for granted, if it wasnt there I wouldnt have bought it :)
