    Girlfriend needed a new pair of glasses, and had a quick look on the Goggles4U Facebook and found a special offer which brought a $28.95 order of glasses and lenses to $8.98. A saving of $21.

    This includes frames and lenses.

    Details below:

    Picture_1_31.png

    So use the coupon code 'G4u399'.

    From the post above, it was 18 hours ago and there was 48 hours left at that stage. So by my calculation, it's valid until midnight tomorrow night.

    I've ordered from them several times. They're really excellent. Two pairs of glasses with anti scratch and anti glare for €20 in total delivered. Awesome. :D

    Agh, typical. Missed an eye exam earlier in the week, or I'd have ordered a couple of pairs.

    Ask your optician for a copy, they're obliged to give it to you.

    Think I left mine in work, so this offer will most likely be over by the time I get it:(

    Hi Bus77II,

    No, I tried ordering another pair of glasses (to keep in the car) and I tried using that 'Glasses899' code, but it only gave a €16 discount.

    I went back and tried the 'G4u399' coupon code and that gave me a €21 discount! That's <€7 total for the glasses.

    Cheers though, those codes might be useful to someone.

    whats the most expensive pair you can get for 8.98 dollars? the cheaper frames are fairly crudely looking!

    From the facebook page (in response to the same question)
    Dear Avon,
    You can use any frame of your choice but to get the above mentioned price you need to select from $4.99 collection. Coupon will give you a discount of $21 on any item.
    Thanks

    What's the delivery time like, I think I head people saying about three weeks?

    I got a pair a while ago and I find them prefectly fine. I use them everyday, they're not crude looking at all. I got the rimless one with the free clip-on sunshades.

    Last time I ordered delivery was over a month, but that was during the Xmas period, so hopefully they will be sent quicker now.

    Lads, any of you good at understanding the prescriptions from specsavers?
    I have mine but it aint looking the same as what appears on goggles website.
    If I were to post a picture of my prescription, anyone care to try to understand what it means?

    My girlfriend ordered using her Specsavers prescription..

    .. pop it to me in a PM. She can probably decipher it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,242 ✭✭✭Moon54

    Basically there is just 7 numbers you need.
    Here's my prescription, copied from my Goggles4u order;
    Right Eye: -1.75, -0.75, 8, 0.00
    Left Eye: -1.50, -0.75, 171, 0.00
    PD:72

    PD is pupilliary distance, the distance between the eyes;
    If u don't have it u can get someone to measure it for you with a ruler;
    Here's a pic from http://www.goggles4u.co.uk/pd.asp;

    You can upload a picture of your prescription to goggles4u, rather than typing it in. I'm sure they'd know better than any of us.

    Here it is.
    Your one seems to have stuck a P and a T in too or she just threw in letters to confuse me :D

    Fixed the image there for you irishproduce.

    It can be clicked to get the larger image.

    EDIT: Oddly.. my girlfriends was printed by a machine, as opposed to being hand-written.

    Did your girlfriends one have letters like that?
    Is there a optical forum around where I could chance someone deciphering it?

    just to tell irish produce that the image shown ie eye prescription is useless and looks like it was filled in by somebody with no experience, my advice would be to call to specsavers again and ask them for a copy of your prescription as they should have on their computer base, as the first 3 boxes should be filled in per eye.
    ps specsavers doing eye tests for 15eu until 31st march:cool:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,830 ✭✭✭irishproduce

    Thanks Stoves.
    The reason there is nothing for right eye is because they couldn't examine it.
    I had surgery on it a few years ago and because I am seeing consultant too, they won't touch that one.
    I agree the details they wrote for the left eye is a mess! I have also asked for advice in the eyeglasses section.
    I will ring them tomorrow but I hope this special offer isn't finished!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,814 ✭✭✭TPD

    Got the prescription today, code doesn't seem to work any more. I got two pairs for €19 delivered with the code glasses899 though, so can't really complain :pac:

    Would definitely take advantage of the offer but haven't had my eyes tested in about 4 years! :eek:, so would want to do that first.

    I just got mine in the post, I opened it up and I could tell straight away that I had been a fool just by the shape of the lenses. My prescription is +5.5 and I ordered bloody -5.5, I can give them to someone with good sight so they can experience life as me when I'm not wearing glasses.

    Otherwise I'm quite impressed.

    Should have gone to Specsavers..

    Haha, same thing happened to me. But my persciption is -5.5! Sent mine back for a partial refund though as they were a bit dearer than this offer. Would have swapped ya otherwise!:pac:

    Ha, a swap would have been interesting (and much more useful that what I have). I'll send them an email, but at the price they were there's hardly any point.

    Just a quick question to anyone who has bought some of these glasses, are the cheapest lenses REALLY thick for someone extremely blind like myself (hans moleman level of short sightedness). Presume best bet would be to stump up the extra for thinner lenses?

    What prescription are you, I'll put up a picture of the -5.5 I have tonight or tomorrow (when I get a chance) if you want to see them. I can't really compare to others as I have only +5.5, ahem, but my impression is maybe just over 4mm at the extreme.

    My bargain specs arrived today. Delivery took just 1 week. I went for the cheapest & they look just as good as my regular glasses (though may be more easily scratched) and came with spare nose pad bits & a case.
