Nitrogen can be applied from early February onwards. The ideal is to apply nitrogen in February as soon as ground conditions allow and there is no heavy rain forecast within 48 hours. This nitrogen will not be leeched out of the soil and will be available for uptake when growth conditions improve in February and March

We put it out about 2 weeks ago. 4 bags to the acre, is that not a tad heavy?

It was to go out today with us. Hopefully tomorrow! 3 bags an acre.

Just underlines the value of soil testing.

Yep agree. All our tests never prove the need for anything more that 2/3 bags/ac though.

Not quite. A lot will be fixed in the soil but not all. Heavy rain will wash that out. The rest will be taken up by any plants growing or released over time. If no growth then this slower release nitrogen can be leeched later with rain
