For me it was last Saturday, I was watching the rugby. Before that it was Christmas. TV gets very, very boring after 5 minutes for me. It's all soaps, celebrity crap and football matches. Snore. Might as well read The Sun and move straight on to Women's Way. Not that I would.

So when did you last watch the mindless box?

I tend to only use my TV for gaming, watching stuff i've downloaded or watching recorded movies off my Sky+ box. Broadcast TV is utter garbage.

I get my news from the net and the radio.

Gone off it in the last few months.
Is sky+ the shows I want to watch (greys anatomy etc) then watch em when it suits me, and stick to documentaries/stand up shows most of the time if Im flicking. I used to watch it for an hour or so after work/before bed to wind down but most nights now I just switch off and read

Last time was half an hour last night

I don't have a TV, and I can't remember the last time I sat down and watched one. Horrible things.

Watched the documentary Japan's Tsunami: How It Happened last night on Channel 4. Pretty good. I just watch documentaries and sky+. Live TV is utter crap with non stop ads.

Do DVDs count as watching telly? If not, rarely watch telly these days. Much rather watch tv shows on DVD (US shows we don't get here like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Wire, Sons of Anarchy etc) than the following:

BBC1 - Probably something about politics
BBC2 - Nature or unfunny comedies
    UTV - Murder mystery shows
Channel 4 - Come dine with me, variations of the Come dine with me format, occasional tits, 100 Greatest Come dine with me bits
Channel 5 - Who cares, nobody watches us anyway
RTE1 - Trying to be like the BBC
RTE2 - Trying to be like Channel 4
TV3 - Trying to be like UTV (actually succeeds considering they show a lot of the same shows at the same ****ing time)
TG4 - Apart from Survivor and The Wire, what's the point?

SKY +, what a invention :) dont have to put up with the stupid 3 minute ads especially when it comes to movies on RTE and you can cut down an hour of a programme to like 35 minutes.

To be honest, I would think that the majority of people claiming here that they only watch documentaries and in-depth dramas are fibbing a little. I would bet that most will watch an episode of the Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park or whatever at some point but will forget about it when discussing it in public.

I equate television programs to music; I'll listen / watch whatever will appeal to me at the time...if I want to watch interesting historical documentaries at that time, I will but some times I'll switch on the above-mentioned cartoons for a laugh, or watch a ****ty film I've seen dozens of times (damn you, Face/Off!). :)

Sky+ really is what makes TV watching bearable, being able to skip past 3-4 minutes of ads!

And an hour and a half of Family Guy last night I really felt I needed :)

There is a lot of snobbery about tv around. Its not all reality sh*te, if you are prepared to look around there is some fantastic stuff on.

Sons Of Anarchy & Mad Men are shown on Rte. The Wire was on TG4 for years before it became popular.

I still watch whatever good documentaries are on, on Eden, Discovery and Nat Geo. History Channel is now following the MTV route by not showing anything its title advertises. MTV Classic still has some good videos, but I have to endure grating adverts for Jersey Shore, Sweet 16 and other shows regular MTV crap that they milk the cow's teat for. As for the others:

Sci Fi (I refuse to call it See Fee): Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, Sharktopus, Mega Piranha, etc.

Comedy Central: Two and a Half Men, Two and a Half Men, Two and a Half Men, occasional South Park, Scrubs, stand up show, Two and a Half Men, Two and a Half Men...

    Sky Atlantic: HBO for free.

Channel 4: Vapid stuff balanced out by stuff that challenges your mind.

MTV: We used to show music.
