Will the sandy bridge procs be replacing the procs in all current, exsisting icore laptops, or will it only be implemented in new laptops?

new laptops I would think - if you're considering a laptop you'll need to check the cpu model number to see if it's sandy bridge or not.

OP, if you mean the standard core i3 laptops that are around 500€ at the moment, it will another couple of months until sandy bridge i3's make it anywhere near this price range. Sure intel are still making the "arrandal" i3's, namely the i3 390m. Whats more the performance upgrade in the sandy bridge i3's over the arrandales may not be that much

    RE: Zonda999

They're only at a 51 quid price premium at the moment from the seller everyone loves to hate.
i3 2310M based Inspiron for €580 including vat and shipping versus €529 for the old i3 380M

But if the OP has ordered a laptop already and is hoping to get an upgraded device when it arrives, then that's not going to happen barring a mixup at the factory.

Sandy bridge is aimed at home or business owners, and not gamers.
The idea is that you can finally get adequate performance using stock rather than discrete graphics, as discrete graphics currently suck up most of the power.
Gamers will still want the higher spec of discrete graphics of an AMD HD5550 for example
Sandy bridge will make a laptop a much better all rounder, with better battery life, instead of 3 hours, maybe 6 or 7 using quick sync

As with all these things, if you can wait, then do, but if you need something right now, then go for whats already available

I havent bought one yet. I have my eye on one so what im asking is if i wait long enough will manafacturers begin to replace the i3 procs in their current machines with new sandy bridges or will the sandy bridges only be present in newly brought out products?

who knows... they will probably differentiate to highlight that a laptop has SB tech or not and as previous posters have said there will be a premium to pay over non-SB laptops. The chips currently cost more so you will have to pay more.

Clearly not as much in it as i thought then, and based on the early benchmarks for the 2310m over a 380m, theres an approximate 20% increase in performance but this would probably fall
