    Hi guys,

I'm looking to get out to CityWest on Monday and, being relatively unfamiliar with the greater Dublin area I'm not sure of the best way to get there. Does anyone have any advice?

I'd like it to be cheap enough, but travel time is priority.

    Cheers.

Using public transport? At what time?

Any bus from Whitehall (except the 104) will bring you to the city centre and I *think* the 65b goes to Citywest. You'll need to change on O'Connell St, walk to the river, cross onto the bridge (but not over the bridge) and go to one of the first bus stops on the left (opposite Laugher Lounge)

Whitehall to O'Connell St takes about 25 minutes during the morning peak, I don't know how long the other leg will take but here is a list of stops.

The number 50 also goes to Citywest, ends up at the same terminus as the 65b, takes about 50/60 minutes from town.

Hi guys, cheers for the help. Reckon I should be able to get out there in plenty of time using just the bus so!
Not really sure on the fare/stages of the route though. Am I looking at paying €4.60?

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate it.

The cheapest ticket is the prepaid Transfer 90 ticket. This allows you travel on as many buses as you want within 90 minutes for €1.85. This ticket is sold with 10 separate fares on it (10 x €1.85) and will cost you €18.50. This might seem expensive, but it lasts for 6 months and it's handy to have in your wallet should you need to use the bus again.

You simply swipe the card when boarding the first bus. This activates a journey and allows you 90 minutes to travel on as many Dublin Bus services as you want, just swipe it as you board each bus. If you swipe it after the 90 minutes, it activates the next journey and so on.

You could also purchase a 1 day rambler ticket. This costs €6.

Both the Transfer 90 and daily rambler can be purchased from any Dublin Bus ticket agent.

If you choose to pay cash fares these are:

Whitehall to City Centre - €1.65
City Centre to Citywest - €2.30

Citywest is served by the 50, 65B and 69.

The 50 and 65B both depart from Eden Quay and operate into the centre of Citywest. The 69 departs from Aston Quay and serves the Nass Road end of the campus.
