Everlasting foundation by Clarins is really really worth a try. I used to love DW but it kinda make me break out. I have also tried studio fix but much prefer the Clarins one

Coverage wise.... is it full coverage and does it last a full night??

I used to use MAC studio fix and then changed to Double Wear, there is no comparison Double Wear is the best!

Coverage with studio fix isn't half as good as Double Wear

I'm so glad you asked too :D I use Studio Fix and have been trialling Double Wear for a couple of days (based on advice from another thread) and it's nice. I like the cover, might do a switcheroo from Studio Fix!

If dw is your thing then you should definitely try dior forever. Its slightly better coverage and to me lasts longer than dw. I have dry skin though and i find dw wrecked my skin after a while where the forever doesn't deteriorate the condition, i think its supposed to be hydrating too.

I use DW too but on the last few nights out iv noticed my face looks white in photos.. Iv heard this is because of the SPF in it? Would studio fix solve this problem??

If you use a good cleanser, toner, moisturiser when removing make up you shouldn't have this problem. I always remove my make fully after a days/nights wear and never experienced any skin problems with it

Oh thank you SO much... this is EXACTLY my problem!!!!! My skin is all congested from it, despite being meticulous about leansing, toning and moisturising and I spend A LOT of money on products, delighted to hear about this one, Im going to call in to Dior on my way home from work for some!

    Thanks again:D

The reason for this whiteness is because full coverage makeup contains LOADS of powder... use plenty of bronzer and the prob is DEFINITELY solved!!!

Its because DW, or any other high coverage foundation has LOADS of powder in it, so the flash shows up the white... try using plenty of bronzer and prob solved!!!!!:D

I'm going to try to wrestle a sample off them for a Chanel foundation later. I don't know what it is about me that they just seem reluctant to hand anything over! I dress well :( I have a friend who goes in for mascara and comes out with so many mini samples of everything it looks like she was on a shopping spree with an elf. Wish I knew the secret. All they want to do is rub some foundation on my jawline and I should be happy with that. If I'm spending €40-60 on a foundation give me a day or two's worth to try!

it might be that they don't have the pots because the counters don't have them all the time. I go to the same girl on dior all the time and she's fanatstic but she told me they only get the little pots in usually for events and whatever they have over is what they have normally on counter, so sometimes they have them, sometimes they don't. Pennys are doing sets with the pots for 1.50 so why don't you grab a few and get a few samples from different counters.

On the other side if they can't give you a sample ask them to apply it for you. So instead of a tiny bit on your jawline you can have it fully applied and wear it for the day then?

Pencilsharp i do have a great skincare regime but dw does not suit my skin at all. If i use it for a few days straight i can see the difference in my skin, kind of congested/run down. A dermatologist told me this is because dw blocks the air from your skin to keep it lasting long so your skin can't breathe as well. I'm not sure if its true or not but certainly when i stopped using dw and didn't change anything else about my skincare my skin improved.

Good luck jenzersboi! Glad to help! :D

I can second (third?) the suggestion of Dior Forever, it really is super. I have acne scars as well and I find the coverage excellent without looking caked. It gives a lovely smooth finish. It is the only foundation I have used where people have actually complimented me :D. It is pricey though, think it is €42 or thereabouts, so I only use it when I am going out rather than every day wear. It also passes the 'get down and boogie' test, I rarely have to touch up on a night out.

Hi I use Bobbi brown and its really good... im fair skinned and its the only foundation i've come across so far that actually blends in seamlessly... definitely worth a try..

I like to use Mac's SFF at the weekend sometimes when I have more time to touch my makeup up over the day and am generally not wearing make up for as long. It defintely doesn't have the staying power of DW, which I generally use, but it does have a nice texture.

If there's the problem of DW looking very pasty in photos, I'd recommend adding something like this into your DW when applying. http://www.maybelline.co.uk/PRODUCTS/Bronzing/FACE/Dream_Sun_Glow_Bronzing_Booster_Make_Up.aspx It's a liquid bronzer. If you put a few drops into a blob of foundation and mix together it will give a nice subtle glow which won't look as OTT as a bronzer but should make you look a bit more sunkissed. It also means you can effectively have a foundation in two colours.

ya know what's a crap foundation? max factor colour adapt. clings to every bit of uneven textured part of skin, including pores and little hairs. even with smashbox primer. perhaps it's just for my skin type.

i LOVE the gel based foundation from Make up Forever. really light, and can be layered on to get more coverage.

picked up a tester of the foundation from the body shop. the colours aren't really suited to irish skintones which tend to be more pinky. they were obviously designed for the uk market, which tends to favour the more yellowey tones. but again, this is just my findings.
