Dell M1710 battery, charger or motherboard?

    Hi,

I bought a Dell M1710 about 3 years ago. In the first year, I had to have the graphics card and fans replaced and a screen replacement. Since then I haven't had any major problems with it.

Recently, the battery has stopped charging. I would think this is a battery issue since the laptop runs on AC. However, if I try to boot this laptop using the AC, a black screen appears saying that the laptop cannot recognise the charger.

It is the original battery and charger that I got with the laptop.

At this point, I just don't know what to do. Is it the battery, the charger or the motherboard? I know that 3 years is probably an exception when it comes to Dell laptops but it was working correctly until about a week ago.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Its either the board or the power supply but not the battery , it you know anyone with a dell charger get a loan of it and try it.
