If you are unsure, you can write to Revenue and tell them you want to pay customs charges on the package.

    Is this a bargain request?

They write gift on the packages and it's likely they won't send it in one package so you should be ok!

apologies, I didn't know where to ask the question.

Ah right cool, yeah I saw after about the drop shipment/gift option so contacted customer service and got them to ship it as that.

    Thanks.

Yep, once out of about 8 orders.

Although that order had an airsoft gun and grenade shaped container of plastic pellets. So maybe that caught their attention first on the X-ray machine!
(All legal, and let through once the taxman got their money)

it seems that more is getting observed by customs, usually 70-80 dollars of orders were OK (specially if sent to your work instead of home)
but now they're keeping them until payment of VAT is received

as they have free postage, if you can don't order all together, split it to under 30-40 dollars each order

yeah good idea getting it sent to work and splitting the order..... i'll be doing that next time. I got them to send it as a drop shipmen/gift thing... so i think that means they don't ship an invoice/receipt with it?

I'll see how it goes, will be another few weeks before i find out, knowing their delivery times!

customs have found out about that and they will ask you for a paypal printout of what you're buying if they're not sure what the price is, that's what happened to us last month with an 85 dollar dash camera off them

don't remember the €6 to anpost, may be
VAT for sure and for others than DE, customs will charge VAT on purchase and postage (not just on purchase)
DE is fine as postage cost is 0

iirc anything over €12 must be declared, and anPost charge a €6 handling fee for the trouble.

writing "gift" on the package is useless and fools noone.

expensive electronics can be repaired abroad, but you need to speak with your repairman to mark the package accordingly.;)

All of this is covered in the Sticky thread at the top of the forum, so there's no need to double up.
