I have spent the last half an hour trying to find the black bin collection calendar for SDCC.
Why in the name of God can it not be clearly signposted, can sdcc not put it up on their site? After all I'm paying them for it.
I found the green bin calendar alright, Ah straightforward. greenbin.ie.
I tried ringing them (not greenbin) and dialled Dublin city council by mistake. They open at 8, how civilized, but SDCC don't. AArrgh!!
Does any one know if it is online and where? Thank you

ok i rang them just after 9 and they told me where to get a calendar.
Mind you, when I put in a search on their site it didn't come up.
Plus it's redundant now, (very much in keeping with the times) as the service has been taken over by Greyhound and the staff have been tuped over. I wonder will they be keeping any privileges that the Greyhound staff won't have.
Go to sdcc, choose Environmental services, click on full details in blue beside the brown bin and scroll halfway down to "will the black bin collection change" and click on calendar in blue.

Black bin was supposed to be collected on Thursday 31st march. but it wasn't. when i rang sdcc they said to call greyhound who had taken over.
When I said that Greyhound didn't take over Monday 4th, that sdcc were still supposed to collect my bin on the thursday, they said, sorry you still have to talk to Greyhound.
Sooo, I rang Greyhound and they said yes, we have only taken over from today and yes, SDCC should have collected your bins. but we know there is a backlog and we will make sure it is cleared this week.
OK then, now I smell a 'let's make sure we cover our arse' scenario.
Greyhound know there is a backlog and they are covering it? SDCC are pushing me to ring Greyhound. No one wants to accuse anyone of anything. Was there an agreement that greyhound would collect the rubbish before their contract came into force and they didn't? Were all the drivers tied up in induction courses at the last minute and couldn't collect last week? Could SDCC not be bothered collecting last week for who knows what reason?
Whatever it is, they are in it together and I have black bags of rubbish not able to fit in the bins.
Also note that the number to call is a 1890 number which for those of use on bundles will cost us.

My blackbin was last collected on Tuesday the 8th of March. I've rang Greyhound who have advised me I'm on a priority list- whatever the hell this means. Greyhound took over collections a forthnight ago- and haven't collected anything here, never mind arrears....... I have no idea what to do.......

Any point complaining to the Council? You are still their customers, even if they've outsourced the service to a private company.

    I really don't think so

it's a complete fob off , the letter informing us of the change arrived after the change so the mentality smacks of a fete accompli

in their latest news section - the page was only created on the Friday with services starting on Monday

    Not good PR for SDCC

(and I'm upset in principle that brown bins cost more for their size than black ones and that higher earners get cheaper bin collection than those on lower wages)

the pay on line link on sdcc.ie now points at https://payment.greyhound.ie/SelfHelp/UserLogin.aspx

ah yes, every time I went to put credit in, I would TRAWL that site looking for how much the bin was. Again as Kewreeuss the information that you would expect is clearly signposted is hidden away in a corner of the site in small print.
Today I cannot even find it, also the calendar is no longer available.
Thankfully I am doing this search for my Mother in Law for I switched to Thorntons last month and find their service much better than SDCC. I have no experience of Greyhound, their website also doesn't have the prices, just a hastily arranged new ugly button which brings you to the payment system.
"We are immediately introducing reduced pricing options and packages that will beat any offerings on the market."
Great, now would you care to print the damn price somewhere?

Ok- one black bin collection since 8th March 2011.......
    Sigh.......
I was talking to one of the women working in SDCC and she said Greyhound had guaranteed the same standards as those SDCC were proud to operate. Wonderful. Pride it would appear is a very subjective thing.

Text message from Greyhound on Sunday morning- welcoming me to their service (i.e. they've figured how to port the SDCC SMS service that some customers have signed up to). It advised collections would be as normal over the bankholiday weekend. I guess- no collection is pretty normal at this stage, and indeed, they kept to their word.........

Anyone like to know what 3 week old baby's nappies smell like?

Anyone else lose credit? or have any idea how much it costs to remove a bin now?

I always found the SDCC website terrible, lots of info (maybe even too much) but not clearly laid out and searching doesn't usually give any answers.
I tried ringing greyhound as when I was checking the SDCC site to see what my credit was, I was directed to greyhound, there the system says I had no credit, my credit seems to have disappeared in the transfer?? I called SDCC but they say all info has been transferred to greyhound, I find it strange they keep no records?? No answer from greyhound, ten minutes on the phone, I hung up.

Anyone have a link to the grey/black bin calender for SDCC?
I was happy with my bin collection service till now, I have a feeling it will deteriorate, my bins have been removed but I cant get info on my account or calenders, surely thats a simple thing for them to do? put a calender on the website? that would be the first thing I would do.
