Black tint on windscreen and front side windows of van - is it legal?

I'd like to buy tint film and apply it to the windscreen and front side windows of my van. Don't want them blacked out completely but some grade of black.

What is the law on this ? Is there a grade of tinting on front windows which is legal?

Might I have any problems with DOE?

    Cheers

    Windscreen tint is illegal.

For cars on the passenger and driver doors it must be less than 65% tint, bear in mind that most cars have some already so adding another 65% will bring you over this. Not sure on a DOE is this checked for a van.

    Windscreen tint is illegal.

I’m not entirely sure that’s right. When they changed the law it only stated that the transparency must be >65%
so iirc as long as the tint is less than this it doesn’t matter what window it’s on.
Not sure whether it applies to commercials at all either, think it’s just regular passenger cars

According to the nct manual the rules for window tinting are the same for the front side windows as they are for the windscreen. Light transmission must no be less then 65% when tested.
