How much would a taxi from Naas to Leixlip cost?

I'm curious as I often travel between both towns.

Presuming the trip was by day and you pre-booked, roughly €48.

Please tell me this is a joke.
    Thats a complete rip-off.

That's not far off what you would pay to go from Naas to Maynooth, so it's probably accurate enough.

Is it a rip off because in you think it's too much to pay for what you get (in other words, you can't afford/justify the correct cost of about a 20 mile trip, which is fair enough) or a rip off as in there are other far cheaper ways to do the same trip at the same time?

OP, you say you often travel between the two towns. How do you travel?

It can be done in a slightly cheaper way by getting the train from Sallins to Hazelhatch and a cab from Hazelhatch to Leixlip.

My friend lives in Naas and I'm going to Oxegen this year with a 3-day non-camping pass.

48 euro isnt bad for that journey considering that route has a lot of traffic on it.

I thought the people going to oxygen were the hitchhiker type or come in a crowded 70`s VW bus????

Not being rude but what's the relevance of Oxygen to anything?:confused::confused:

True but I was thinking the context in relation to what he was replying to :)

Ok maybe I used Oxegen in the wrong context.

I was asked about why I travelled between the two towns and stated that my friend lives in Naas. I should've said I get a lift off my parents because I was asked how I travel. I though the poster was asking why.

But I brought Oxegen into the equation because I'm trying to come up with a plan so my parents won't be worried about me having anything organised.

On a separate note I'm currently just interested in night taxi's home because it would be easy to get public transport to the racecourse on each of the morning of all 3 days.

    Gotcha now, sorry about that.

TBH, I'd get the transfer buses home if I were you. I know they take their time but getting a taxi within an asses roar of Punchestown will be a good trick and traffic and the extra distance could possibly turn your trip into a €100 run, given the traffic etc

Grand so I'm guessing after getting the bus it will drop me to town and from there I could either get the 66 back to Leixlip (if any were operating at the time) or order a taxi.

Stay with your friend in Naas?

The last 66 leaves very early, but fortunately on Fri and Sat nights there is the 66N.

I will ask him about it.

I don't know if thats ok because my friend doesn't like festivals like these and I don't think its fair to just use someone's house like.

    use it like what?

To stay over especially when I won't be there till after midnight.

I guess there's probably no harm in asking, thats all I can do really.

For the Fri and Sat night you could get the Bus Eireann 126N that returns from Naas via Clane and the N4, should be able to drop off at the inbound bus stop at J5 which is not that far a walk to Leixlip. It would be a longer walk from Punchestown to Naas.

The bus stop you refer to relies on the driver diverting briefly off the N4, which he may decline to do. In addition it is in Co. Dublin and the address is officially Lucan (the old Tara Marts site, which is closer to Leixlip that the bus stop is officially in Lucan). It's a long walk to most of Leixlip from that bus stop.

Well I could get off in Lucan and I could organise a lift home with someone I know who drives.

The 126N leaves straight after Oxegen yeah?

It doesn't serve Punchestown, man. It departs Newbridge and serves Naas on it's return to Dublin so you'd have to get to Naas to catch it.

Your best bet is one of the buses specifically for oxegen:

    http://www.oxegen.ie/travel/

Get into Dublin city centre and get the 66N home on Fri & Sat.

The only problem is Sunday as Dublin Bus doesn't want you to be out late.

    Incorrect, me auld flower.

Dublin Bus hasn't been granted permission by the Department of Transport to run buses any later than they currently do. This is in spite of agreement on same from staff, management and unions and a desire by the company to offer service beyond 23:30 as is the current state of play.
