Exhaust problem on used car

    Heya,

I bought a used car there two weeks ago. Garage gave me a 3 month warranty. Driving it last night i could suddenly hear the car get louder and realised there was problem with exhaust. When i looked at it the box of the exhaust was hanging on one side. The fittings and rubber that kept it in place were still there but they had come off. The lower part of the tail pipe had a a hole in it. There seems to be loads of rusting at the entrance to the box of the exhaust. I rang the garage(they are not SIMI registered) and they said that they would have to have a look at it as they said if it was damaged by me they would not cover it. What rights under warranty would i have with regards to exhaust??

I would imagine that if you didnt damage it yourself they would fix it or replace the effected section for you without any hassle?

Look in your warranty booklet, that will tell you exactly what's covered and for how long. Didn't think to get the warranty in writing? Time to cross your fingers so.:)

In fairness they said they'll cover it if you didn't cause it, the exhaust was rusted and in bits, they'll cover it :)
