The Munster A schools team(students of B schools like villiers, bandon grammer, newtown school, midleton college, and C and associate schools ) usually play leinster in 1 or 2 games in september, no fixtures afaik have been made for the A games yet though they usually are on end september/ start october after the other schools interpros have been played

Munster Youths would be much stronger, the youths have played the main schools interpro team a couple of times this summer as prep for the interpros and they drew once and the schools narrowly won the other game. The youths play the u18 schools again friday week

how did the match between the youths and schools go

how did the match between the youths and schools go
schools won, a full 70 minute game wasnt played, they played 2 shorter length games to let coaches get more time to look at players.
schools won both games but the youths were missing a few players due to injury while the schools were much closer to full strength.
the results of these games dont really matter as they are only build up to the interpros

they will cut the youths squad again this week with 4-5 losing out as the squad is being cut to 25 or 26(idiotic decision as it means the coaches cant have a match between players in the squad in a training session as there isnt 30 players to do a full on match in training etc and 3-4 players prob will be called up to squad for various reasons between now and the first interpo in 5-6 weeks time)

no its not worrying, why should it be?
In many of the games theyve played against each other over the summer they were evenly matched.
The real tests start now with the interpro games. The Munster Youths have done well in recent years but the schools have been poor, hopefully the schools(and youth) can get more players into the irish set up as looking at the previous few years were probably 4th in producing players for the Irish youths, schools u18 teams

Why was it a 2nd string schools team? they played full strength schools team several times earlier in the summer and they didnt do to bad. if it was the same u18 schools team they played earlier in the summer, they have been training and playing as much as the youths have

father was at it for a short while. Munster were s***e, serious problems in munster development system. Some players on munster side are nowhere near provincial standard and only there because of a coach/who they no.
Very poor munster side and wouldnt be surprised if they dont win a game

There's serious disillusionment with how those squads are being picked. Basically the Limerick players don't think they are being picked even slightly on merit. If this is repeated elsewhere in the province Munster are in real trouble.

Anyone know how the u19's went yesterday? Think you were keeping an eye out for that Gleeson lad?

Ive been to most interpros at youths level over the last 5 years, Munster in general hasnt had many players in any year at irish level in that time and thats mainly because of the system in which players are developed.

The disillusionment with how the squads have been picked has increased tenfold, IMO, since the branch development officers took over the coaching side of the regional teams that play to decide the make up of the youths squad. Before them the coaches were local club coaches and they did very well but it was decided the branch needed a tighter control over these teams and the likes of noel o meara, john o neill(both development officers with the branch) became head coach of a region and the previous coaches like pat fitzpatrick of nenagh and sean devaney who had done extremaly well over the previous few years were told they were beng replaced.

The biggest problems is coaches from cork and the south munster section who are picking lads from their clubs etc. It always happens everywhere at u/age level but there is some from cork city who are involved at the moment at interpro level messing the system with their political picks. I could name names but i dont think its worth the hassle

I was at the 19s yesterday. only saw the 2nd half as got kick off time mixed up. it finished a draw, 13 apiece.
very poor game, wasnt pretty and certainly not a game you would like to see again
Munster pack were alright. Backs were terrible, tom kiersey(outhalf for waterparks 19s last season) at 10 was the only munster back with any imagination
Didnt see much of cronan as he went off as he got a knock and they didnt want to aggravate it.
If we play like we did yesterday against leinster we will be well beaten

It seems that Leinster are so much ahead of Munster with regards to there representative teams..and indeed academy structures..

Seems like the u19 match wasnt great at all...I have heard that Leinster are meant to have a fairly useful u19 team so will be a tough fixture fr munster

I see where leinster u19s had a good victory this weekend beating ulster 36-9

the whole set up is a shambles, since the development officers got involved things have got worse, the system of bringing players automatic from the u18 youths into the u19 the following season without holding trials etc is crazy, this is what happened this year
and look what we are getting,it's fact a lot of limerick club players not getting a look in,are we going to do the same next year with the youths
after they were beaten easily enough by the munster b/c schools recently
