Anyone any recommendations for tri shoes?

My road shoes are trashed and I need to replace them. Not sure whether to go for road race shoes or tri shoes.

For an IM distance bike I'd expect road shoes to be better (more secure), but thats just because I've never used tri shoes. Is the one/two straps secure enough for a good hold over longer distance stuff?

I use Spiuk Tri shoes and fnd them very comfortable. I've nothing to compare against though. I've used them up to HIM distance.

Not sure about IM but I'd imagine road shoes would be better over the longer distance

snugg as a bug and I'd highly recommend. I use with Look keo pedals. more comfy than North Wave which I use with SPDs. I don't know about long distance though. Just 1 4hr spin done with them and the balls of my feet ached afterwards (I was on sh!tty gravel roads for 2 hours though). I've never used cycling shoes though so can't compare

I use Louis Garneau tri shoes. The strap is about 5cm wide and holds my foot snug and secure.

The advantage of the Tri shoe is the single strap to secure the shoe = quicker transitions on short tri races. To be fair I have a pair of shimano road shoes with three straps and I haven't used them in a few years.

The stiffness of the shoe is probably one of the more important features for foot fatigue / comfort and power transfer.

My shoes are due for renewal and I'll probably stick with the brand. I see the new shoe has a second strap across the base of the toes which I guess gives additional security and personal fit.

    My two cents.
I've used the Shimano TR-31's which I find very comfortable. Never an ache or a blister to be had.

    Hi KingQuez,

I've got Nortwave and Sidi road shoes for the long weekend spins and like Amphkingwest I also have Louis Garneau tri shoes like these http://www.wheelworxbikes.com/product_info.php?cPath=23_30_80&products_id=109

I really like the LG tri shoe and once the shoe fit suited your foot shape obviously then I think that they'd be fine for IM distance
