    need some advice on what type of clipper to buy for clipping cows tails and freeze brands

    hi sthil i bought a wolseley clipper 380 euros. heiniger is another good make as is lister laser .www.pedigreecattle.ie sells the heiniger clipper seen it in farmersjournal under livestock grooming.

    looks like a good job for doing tails, i don't have one but i'd be interested in hearing if anyone else has one and if it is any good.

    thanks for the info there's a liveryman in local co op for 230 euro, guy there says people with horses buy them , is there a difference between cattle and horse hair ? or would you use different blades ?

    I got a cordless hair clippers from tesco like what you see in the hairdressers for €17. Its pretty good for freezebrands as it cuts so close to the skin but not up to doing tails. had a heinger cordless which are good but water got into it

    i'm in the market for a new cordless trimmer, would you recommend that heinger.

    Would an ordinary hair clippers like in a hairdressers do the same job?:rolleyes: Could be handy at that money?:D

    Yep, use one of them the whole time. Have two batteries, can use one and charge the other for non stop clipping. Then use an ordinary hair clippers for the detail on the legs.

    Only problem is the clipper really freaks out one of the young bulls, most of the rest of them will stand for it no bother.

    Na not yet, but were practicing with some help from a friend who does. Have 1 or 2 that were going to show this year.

    Charolais and it will be northern shows, cause its the GF's herd, not sure yet which shows though.

    its a lot of work but there is great pride in it-ill be showing some calves-hols

    My grandfather used to show Holsteins in the Spring Show years ago. The big show trunk is still some where around with the herd name stenciled on.

    where did you purchase? and if recent how much did it cost ?.
