    If you aren't famous you aren't a star. Most porn performers are not famous.

    It's also an attempt to add some class to the industry.

    since they are the star of the particular thing they are in, they are a star only relative to what they are doing, just like a soap star wouldnt be considered a star among hollywood movie actors but within their own circle they are.

    They are porn performers. Simple as that. A tiny minority are "stars".

    Porn is a massive business, their trade shows draw huge crowds and people seem willing to pay to see their favourite stars in the flesh (no pun intended).

    A star plays a principal role (starring role) in a movie. A celebrity is famous (and celebrated), which is what I can only assume you mean by star. Star =/= celebrity
