What's your age and driving experience? What kind of driving do you do daily?

With that kind of money, you're obviously hoping to drive the thing for a few years.

Don't buy a 1.4 golf (unless its a tsi, of course) or focus is my main advice. Both too heavy for the engine. I've driven several of each and owned a focus.

Think he has an 05 307 1.4 with A few faults.

yep - i'm the 05 peugeot 307 - one garage said they'd give me 4000 on a trade in without me fixing it up.

yeah i want something that will last me - drive to and from work - 45 miles a day -
i did look at golf - if i did go for it i'd have to go engine size above 1.4 and stay away from focus - yeah -

    any other recomendations?????

Stay away from a 1.4 Focus but the rest are decent enough. If you want a petrol, a Mark 2 Focus Ghia or Titanium is a good bet with the 115PS 1.6 engine as they are more economical than the standard 1.6 and more refined too.

Tiny in the rear, noisy, bumpy, not very safe and with a cheaply finished interior. Why anyone would buy one new in 2009 is beyond me.

i traded it my skodia octavia 1,4 16 valve. recently. Its a big car. Has a big boot. The dealer was selling it on for 11500 but actually let it go for 9995

    Taidg riordan ashbourne.

I am only telling you because it was the old tax system and if your will to bargin with the dealer you will get an old tax car simular price.

The way i see it is the 250 euro diff in tax will give you a few years of motering at the reduced price.

    if you catch my drift.

Car hire companies were probably only ones with new ones as late as 09

I agree that by 09 they were getting very dated. On a plus point some of the common issues which the ealier models suffored from were long gone so IMO you'd be getting a decent reliable car, if not overly refined.

Jason, you don't need to keep starting threads on different cars. Keep it in your original please.
