    Hey all,

Im a college student doing a project on this website http://www.worky.com

Its similar to linkedin and not as social as facebook but aimed at being more social and based on the job hunt!

As im sure there are some on the job hunt here on this forum, maybe if I could get your initial thoughts on the website and if you would see yourselves using it atall in the quest for employment!

Any and all feedback greatly appreciated!!

The only way people would ever use it is if employers put listings up and get responses. There are lots of job websites, most of which are an eyesore.* Talk about a bloated market.

*Think of jobs.ie with its various listings of 'direct sales' and remuneration of 'up to 35k per annum'

Typical chicken and egg business scenario.

Posting on boards.ie smacks of desperation/zero marketing budget.

What are you saying here? I dont work for worky or anything like that, genuinely have a project on them as part of my business and management degree in DIT and was just trying to do some research into what peoples impressions of the site were.' figured boards would be a good way to gauge peoples opinions quickly and easily.

Dont believe me, go thrawling through my past posts - iv stated before im a student.

or contact <snip>, our lecturer and ask her what our small business management project worth 40% is.
Mod note: Don't post someone's personal contact details online without their knowledge and permission. It's an invitation to trouble for you both.

Hi gags89, please don't post email addresses here; especially other people's email addresses.

I have never heard of it. Just had a look and it reminds me of those sites that come up when you make a typo when logging into a popular site.

This would make me not use it.

+1. Is there really a market for what it's offering? LinkedIn and Facebook for most people are separate for a very good reason! I guess I just don't really understand the premise of it, and tbh the credentials of some of the staff listed didn't fill me with faith and excitement.

If you already have a LinkedIn and Facebook account, what's the real point of it? Also the name is awful.

Sorry! In answer to your Q, no I wouldn't use it.

you seem to have to go through alot of effort to look at jobs...think its a bit too much when there are other sites about

No, it does not have any level of market penetration. For a web-site like that to function it needs a certain critical mass which it does not have.

If you are comparing this to LinkedIn or Facebook then you need to do a bit of work on that project. There is little or not comparison between the sites.

Would never use it. The name worky is awful and it does sound like a site you would end up in because of a typo. After looking at some of the "featured" profiles, they look invented and their CVs are more advertisements for the featured companies rather than the individuals (Example, some guy works for Google, but has no job description, just a paragraph on how amazing Google are). I would guess OP, you work for this company?

You can just tell some HR suit came up with this idea after watching the social network or something
