Official Youtube Vids.

went to view an official eminem video this morning on youtube on ipad and no official videos came up. i tried several searches but no proper official videos for any artist came up. i tried the youtube app and the actual site but no difference, signing in didnt help either.

The limited YouTube selection available on the mobile site is extremely annoying. There's nothing you can do about it as far as I know.

One answer however is to get the app iswifter . It contains a browser that let's you acces flash sites and watch streaming flash. It allows full access to YouTube so you can watch any video you want. It was free but I think it's 2 euro now,however it's very well worth it. It's categorized as a game in iTunes and has a little rocket as it's icon.

so i cant watch official videos on youtube? surely theyre all the same format?

Nope your selection is limited im afraid.I'm not sure if it's a copyright thing or what but I can never find official music videos on YouTube. It's certainly an iPad negative.

Well they want you to buy music from them not listen for free. It's annoying but it is clever. It amazes me that people don't kick up more about it.

Is there a jailbreak app that gets around this?

i have an android phone (shhh) and i have it rooted and love it but although im technically savvy i found it hard to grasp how to even root it and that. it was only due to a complete step by step guide online that i was able to do it. how does this process compare to jailbreaking an ipad? and will i be able to view these official videos straight away or do i need to get an app first?
i hear theres a jailbreak for 4.3 coming soon so will i just wait for that before doing anything?
will i be able to download music and videos directly onto my ipad then too?
how long does this take?

The limited Youtube selection is down to Google and the content providers, not Apple. Official Youtube uploaders like record companies usually restrict their content from being played on mobile devices. Also, any videos that contain ad banners aren't available in HTML5 (which the iPhone/iPad uses) and only work in Flash.

The VEVO app is available free and contains a large selection of videos. Nice UI as well.
