Is the PPO in dublin still backlogged?

Im flying to london on thursday and still no sign of my passport. The website is still saying "registered" and I cant get in phone contact with the office - it keeps kicking me off the queue every time i try.

This is day 11 since i applied for the passport, and they "guarantee" a 10 day delivery.

    What to do?!

    Hi

I am in the same boat except I dont have a reference number and by the way you didnt miss much by not speaking to anyone there as I spoke to the most unhelpful guy imaginable. If you have your reference number you can call to the passport office in person and collect same as I know a girl that did that last week - however when I asked the guy on the phone he said that was not possible so I dont know anymore.

    Regards
    Mary

You'll get a much better response in the Travel forum (as opposed to Independent Travel) so I'll throw your thread over there.

There's a megathread at the top of this forum with up to the minute info, but in short there are delays and you could be looking at up to three weeks.

    Hi

Thanks for that but to be honest one cant help wondering if our new government need to really take the last bit of dignity we have left - it seems to be lawful to not honour your word with the "10 day express passport delivery service". The passport office cant even find me in their system - makes ye wonder do they really need that extra 55 euro emergency pp after paying in advance of the 10 day service they claim to offer with An Post?

I know from studying law if you offer a service within a guaranteed period of time you have to honour that - jaysus it makes me mad they just seem to be trying to pull money from where they can ????????????

I look forward to hearing from all in my situation.

    Best regards
    Mary

Thanks for that. We try to avoid rants here, so with that in mind I'm closing the thread. Any further queries to the megathread, rants can go somewhere else.

With regard to your legal studies, I'm sure you've been told to always read the terms and conditions. Delays are covered and there is notice of delays on the passport office site. http://www.dfa.ie/home/index.aspx?id=83334
