My Auntie died recently and there is now nobody living in this house so i was just wondering

Is it Up to the family to notify Esb that this person has passed away particulary if they were in reciept of social welfare discounts ? and if not what are the consequences?

    Hi faolteam,

Sorry to hear about your Aunt's passing. Normally in this kind of scenario, the executor of the will (or family member) would contact us with updated details as to who is taking responsibility for the electricity supply. We would then be in a position to close off the account in the deceased person's name.

Please don't worry about this - if the account isn't closed off straight away and time drags on a little, that's perfectly understandable in the circumstances. If you would like me to have a look at the account and advise on the next best step, just PM me the account details in question and we can take it from there.

    Thanks,

    David.
