Can't see the wood for the trees...

Why is that? Why can't we see what is happening in front of our eyes but in years to come, as history has proven, it all seems so obvious.

    Like Haughey?

    Like Iraq and WMDs

Is it just that the voices that try and tell us the truth, more or less, are drowned out? Do the sheep baaaaa to loudly?

Why is it that the truth, allegedly, never seems so obvious at the time?

    :(

We can, it's just that the people at the top are drunk with power and so they don't listen to those below them.

Unlimited access to coke and hookers doesn't help either.

People knew about Haughey, but knowing and proving are two different things. There are people who have been proven in court to be dubious in this country, and they still get elected.

It was obvious from early on to a large number of people that was a crock.

If you're going to start a thread having an oul sneer at the 'sheep', you might get better examples.....

    You answer your own question.

Also people believe lies before they believe the truth. Don't ask me, it just happens and skilful manipulators like taskmaster, Bush and Blair have been recent examples of excellence in getting the biggest whoppers believed by many.

Because there's too much to take in at any given moment. We can look back on Haughy and judge him without any of the other contemporary stuff getting in the way. Ten years from now, we'll look back on today and wonder about something that nobody was making a fuss about, but while it'll be obvious that I should be able to see it now, I also have to think about Libya, Japan, the economy, Obama coming to Ireland, the Queen coming to Ireland, finding a job, sorting out my ****ing study notes, organising this thing on Friday, completing Marvel vs Capcom 3 and deciding if I'm hungry enough to go downstairs and eat something or am I grand here.

Ten years from now, it'll be easy to focus entirely on one of those.

why go against tradition when we can

    live in decline
be the victim of our own design

Existance of trees wouldn't necessarily mean it's a wood, could just be some trees, or an orchard. Or maybe a nice little fruit garden.

It's about Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

    I'm almost 100% on that.

    Ah, okay!

    It's a watered down, DLC rip-off.

I'm now part of the crowd. :P

It's not that people don't see it, it is that they don't care. Anything that does not directly affect their lives people generally don't give a crap about. How have either of the two cases you mentioned really affected people, very little I would think.
